PUBLIC SPEAKING

Be an advocate for yourself and remember to stay true to yourself.

27th Annual best buddies leadership conference

The summer of July 2016 is one of the best memories I have experienced.  I attended the International Best Buddies Conference in Indiana and was chosen to be the last speaker from the Ambassador Program.  It was amazing having the audience chant my name and being able to spread the message of self –advocacy.

The Bayanihan organization Fashion Show

I spoke at the Bayanihan Organization Fashion Show. They wrote about it in this article.

Here's a quote from the piece they wrote:

"The BSO at Marquette University seeks to promote, celebrate, and educate fellow students, and the community, about the Filipino culture. Their annual fashion show is one of the biggest student-lead charity events on Marquette University’s campus. Best Buddies in Wisconsin was nominated by the members of BSO to receive the funds raised at the event. For this particular event, we chose an ambassador that had a personal connection to the Filipino community and his message really resonated."

Part of my speech:

"I would encourage anyone who likes to make new friends and meaningful friendships to look into being a Best Buddy to an adult with a disability. On a personal note, I am also glad to be here to represent the Filipino community. My dad, Basil, is from the Philippines and came here as an exchange student when he was 16 years old. I have traveled to the Philippines. I am proud to represent both Best Buddies and my Filipino heritage…”
